Living Point

For a church to grow its people into mature, Christ-like disciples, it must have a plan for doing so. It is not a natural occurrence, so the church must develop an environment in which people can develop Christ-like qualities. Scripture is clear – not only must we “baptize” (lead people to salvation) but also “make disciples” by “teach[ing] them to obey” what Christ commanded. It is our expectation that anyone desiring to be involved at South Jeff will intentionally apply themselves in participating in the following “Living point” courses.

Starting Point

This no-obligation first step in the process intoduces interested people or new Christians to an explanation of our doctrine, structure, practices, and the expectations of being a member of South Jeff. Interested in beginning your relationship with Jesus and His church? Starting Point is the place for you. In short, Starting Point will give participants a good opportunity to interact and explore what they might be getting into before actually making a commitment.

Growing Point

This second step in the growth process emphasizes the expectation of developing regular habits that will mature members into Christ-likeness. Members are instructed in how to develop four key habits that contribute to personal transformation: Time in Gods Word; Prayer; Fellowship; Worship. If you've ever struggled to read and understand your Bible, your prayer life is dry, worship is boring to you, or you don't see the need to spend time with other believers, then this class is for you.

Serving Point

God has given every believer particular gifts, talents and personality with which to serve members of His body, people in the community, advancing the Kingdom, and living fulfilled lives. This third class leads members to discover and explore their unique, God-given design and help point them toward a place to serve.

Throughout the year there will be other classes and seminars designed to help you know God more personally. For example, you may want to take advantage of the 13 week Financial Peace University to help you eliminate debt and manage God's money God's way. Or, you might consider participating in a periodic marriage enrichment seminar.

Each of the Living Point classes will typically meet on one day (e.g. Saturday) and will include child care (preschool-kindergarten) and a light lunch. Watch the church calendar for dates and information. To sign up or request more details regarding any Living Point opportunity, contact Tresa Ward by email or through the church office: 937.3732
